CAMA Festival heats up the stage

Hot temperatures and burning sun couldn't keep concert-goers away from the 4th annual CAMA Festival in Hanoi.

Hot temperatures and burning sun couldn't keep concert-goers away from the 4th annual CAMA Festival at the American Club in Hanoi.

Hundreds braved the heat to watch the international guests light up the stage. Raffle drawings, dance contests, DJ's, bands, food and beer kept the people coming and the music flowing. The concert lasted from 1pm until late and featured a wide array of artists including: Dengue Fever (USA), Molice (Japan), Queen Sea Big Shark (China), Red Bantoo (Australia), Up Dharma Down (Philippines), Charly B (France), Recycle (Vietnam), Kim (Vietnam), Ngu Cung (Vietnam), and Dance4Life groups.

Highlighting HIV and Aids awareness were key aspects of the event. Kim Watson, from England, looked on and shared, "This event shows that the community of expats and locals can gather, make a difference and send a message."

Others in the audience sipped on cold beers, pouring with sweat, but happy to participate. James Goodman, from the US, said, "I don't care about the heat. This is the number one music event of the year. There is nothing that could keep me away from here but the cold Corona most certainly makes it easier to cope with the heat."

Vietnam's own Kim shared how important the event was for her and for Vietnam. She has been involved in HIV/Aids awareness issues for over three years and wants to make Vietnam, "Proud and a better place."

The various sounds and genres mixing it up on the stage kept the crowd enthused and excited. The event is building on four successful years and is widely being considered one of Hanoi's most successful musical events ever held.

Organizers vowed to continue with the CAMA Festival and hope to see it grow even more next year.
