The project, funded by the provincial budget, is scheduled to run from 2026 to 2027.
Located in Bac Lieu Ward, the landmark features three traditional Vietnamese conical hats clustered together. The complex includes Block A, home to the Cao Van Lau Theatre, and Blocks B and C, which function as a provincial museum.

Renovation works will cover more than 4,700 square metres, focusing on roof waterproofing and structural repairs across all blocks. Upgrades will also be made to Block A and parts of Blocks B and C, alongside refurbishment of theatre equipment.
Officials said the project aims to address deterioration, prevent mould and water damage, and improve functionality, while enhancing the site’s appearance and supporting tourism and socio economic development.

The structure, built on a site of more than 2,260 square metres, features its tallest cone at 24.75 metres with a diameter exceeding 45 metres, constructed using composite roofing materials.
It was recognised by the Vietnam Records Organisation in 2014 as the country’s largest conical hat shaped structure and is considered a notable tourist attraction in the Mekong Delta, drawing visitors throughout the year, particularly during holidays.
