Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan visited and gave gifts to a poor family with three ill children in Kon Tum Province after their story was published on DTiNews.
The Vice President of Vietnam, and head of Children Protection Fund, Nguyen Thi Doan, visited poor households in Kon Tum Province recently along with the local authorities, the Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, Pham Thi Hai Chuyen, and representatives of several other organisations.
The vice president also visited the family of Nguyen Thi Them. Them and two of her children suffer from thalassemia and her third child has heart disease. To lengthen their children's life, Them has to bring her two kids to hospital for regular treatment.

Them's husband, Lai Van Hoi, does not have a stable job, so the hospital charges are huge burden to the whole family. They borrowed over VND100 million from banks but the children's situations continued to worsen. "Quyen has been coughing up blood and having nose bleeds recently. He must be at the final stages," Them said.
During the visit, the vice president shared her sympathy when told that Them and her two children could not be cured. She also encouraged Them's family to allow the third child to study.
Them accepts help
Them was also given VND10 million (USD480) directly from vice president and over VND20 million from other organisations.
The Children Protection Fund also provided each of 50 disadvantaged children with VND2 million. The delegation also supported 40 people who contributed to the country VND300,000, and gave VND100 million to the provincial Department of Social Assistance so that they will hold Tet celebration for disadvantaged children and elders. In addition, they gave 200 coats for poor children in Kon Tum Province.
