A man who suffers from epilepsy and has lived in house in poor condition for many years has a very simple dream: to eat a full meal.

Nguyen Van Hong in his house
Nguyen Van Hong, 52 years old, from Hau Thanh Commune, Yen Thanh District, now lives in a small house on the verge of of collapse. Around the house is wild grass and bamboo.
Most people who make a visit feel pity for the ailing man. His limbs constantly tremble as if he had cold. He sits alone in a dark corner and is periodically tortured by seizures.
The most valuable things in his house are some old and torn clothes and a few bowls along with pots on the floor.

His younger sister, Nguyen Thi Hang, said her family is the poorest in the commune. She said that his brother has been living with diseases since he was four. After a seizure, part of his body became deformed and then his limbs faced myasthenia. Additionally, he also has skin leisions, and, due to a spinal problem, he has to walk hunched over.
Hang said that her parents tried to take him to more than one hospital, but the situation has not improved. Meanwhile, her younger sister also died of a serious disease when she was young, Hang said.
She said that their mother passed away and later the father remarried, leaving her and his older brother behind to fend for themselves.
Hang collects scraps to earn some money to buy just enough rice to survive. She married a disabled husband who is 10 years younger than her.

Hang and her disabled husband
“Sometimes, I think of the suicide, but I couldn't do it because if I died, no one would take care of my older brother. She has two children but both of them are also sick and exhibit similar symptoms to their farther.
Nguyen Thi Ly, Hong’s neighbour, said Hong’s family now wholly depends on their monthly subsidy of VND180,000 (USD8.6) offered by the state. Local villagers sometimes give them food and rice to help them get by.
In order to support the family, donation should be sent through:
