During an inspection of the project on September 26, Quang Tri Party Secretary Vuong Quoc Tuan asked the investor to meet its commitments and keep construction on schedule for the test flight.
The airport project has total investment of more than VND 6 trillion, including about VND 5.82 trillion raised by investors and around VND 327 billion in state funding for site clearance.
It is being developed under a public-private partnership by a consortium of T&T Group and CIENCO4.
Tuan called for work to be accelerated while ensuring traffic safety and minimising disruption to residents during the transport of construction materials and equipment.
He also said the terminal and related infrastructure should be developed in line with the airport's planned 4E classification, with infrastructure built synchronously across two floors.
The project is targeted for substantial completion by May 2027.
During the inspection, provincial officials also reviewed several major transport and logistics projects in southern Quang Tri, including My Thuy International Port and National Highways 15D and 9.
The My Thuy International Port project has investment of VND 15 trillion and covers 685 hectares, with 10 berths designed to accommodate vessels of up to 100,000 tonnes.
Its first two berths began operations on July 15, 2026, while four berths are targeted for completion in 2027.
The National Highway 15D section linking My Thuy International Port with the Cam Lo-La Son Expressway stretches more than 21 km and has investment of VND 1.94 trillion.
About 18.6 km, or 88 per cent, of the required land has been handed over, while construction work has reached about 24 per cent.
The planned 92-km National Highway 15D will link My Thuy International Port with La Lay International Border Gate, cutting freight journeys by about 70 km and improving links with Laos and northeastern Thailand.
