A mother in Thanh Hoa Province is calling for financial support to help treat her son and daughter who are both suffering from illnesses.
Nguyen Thi Tinh's husband has eye defects and weak health so he cannot do hard work. Tinh has a history of seizures but she still goes to the market to sell vegetables daily without fail.
Her oldest daughter is nine years old and often passes out. When she faints, trickles of blood come out of her mouth. Many people believe Tinh's daughter might have heart disease.
"There were times my daughter told me to bring her to hospital, to keep her alive. But without money, I don't know what to do," Tinh said.

Then in 2012, Tinh's son, who was one year old at the time, had a high fever so the family go to the doctors. He was diagnosed with cancer and the doctors wanted to do blood culture to have more clear results. In order to raise the USD454 for the tests, Tinh had to borrow from everywhere. Tinh's husband, Le Van Chuc, tries to find jobs but few people want to hire him because of his health. Sometimes he was hired to cook for construction workers.
In 2014, the health of Tinh's daughter worsened and they had to bring her to hospital. The doctors said she had leaking heart valves and needed to be operated on as soon as possible.
However Tinh could not do anything for her children until 2015, staff from the Viettel Group supported them with half of the operations' cost. Tinh then borrowed USD2,270 from the banks and some more from relatives and neighbours.

After three operations, Tinh's daughter was released but advised to have monthly check at Hanoi's National Paediatric Hospital. The trip and health checks cost them a substantial amount of money. In addition, she has to take medicines not covered by health insurance. Meanwhile, they still have the debts to repay. Their house is deteriorating and has nothing valuable and Tinh has stopped selling vegetables at the market to take care of her husband and children.
"I'm afraid I'll have to let them die because of poverty," Tinh said.
