A 12-year old girl suffering from ocular lymphoma has got strong support from many DTiNews readers after an article was published about her recently.
Go's enlarged eye
Vu Y Go, from the Mong ethnic minority group, is being treated at the Surgery Department of Nghe An Oncology Hospital. Her left eye bulges out of the socket and dark pus pours surround her face. Because her parents cannot speak Vietnamese, Go is alone in the hospital with Vu Ba Go, a villager who acts as her interpreter.
On February 27, DTiNews reporters along with Venerable Thich Dinh Tue of Phuc Thanh Pagoda and Buddhists in the province went to the hospital to present the girl with VND9 million (USD428.6) so her treatment could continue.
Venerable Thich Dinh Tue said that even though the amount of money is small, it shows local Buddhists care.
A group of nuns from Nhieu Long Pagoda also sent a donation of VND11.2 million (USD523.8) to the girl, along with their encouragement to overcome her hardship.

Three months ago, Go's left eye suddenly became swollen and painful. Thinking that she had a normal eye infection, her parents used herbal medicine, but the pain became worse and the eye only got bigger. Villagers were shocked when Go returned from the fields with an enlarged and darkened eye.
Dr. Vu Dinh Giap, from the Surgery Department of Nghe An Oncology Hospital, said they would have to remove her left eye, followed by chemotherapy. "The cost for the treatment was too high for her parents to afford, so the community has come to her aid," she said.
Mr. Go and the girl’s uncle, Mr. Mua, have had to ask for any extra food from other patients at the hospital in order to feed her.
