Hien accepts donation from DTiNews readers
Dinh Thi Hien, Vu Cong Tu's mother, said, "Kind people from distant provinces also visited to give us money. We've already received nearly VND100 million from visitors. I hope that, with people's help, my son will get better medical treatment and I'll be less worried about my two other children." On August 29, DTiNews transferred VND252,480,000 to Hien that was donated by readers.
Upon receiving the help of the community, Hien said the last weeks have provided some relief for her family. Hien expressed her gratitude to the donors. She said, "It's unclear whether my son's illness can be cured, but we all are encouraged by everyone's help."
Tu’s farther died of a stroke, leaving his mother to support the family. Since Tu was diagnosed with leukemia in 2011, he has not been able to go to school because of the treatment and has to take a bus by himself from Nghe An to Hanoi for the treatment. Hien is unable to accompany him because of the two other children and work.
Hien has taken on various jobs, from selling vegetables to brick-laying, to support the family. She also borrowed VND200 million and often has to skip meals herself. Still, doctors from the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion said that the treatment now seems to be ineffective and the cancer is spreading.
