Vietnam Airlines and VietJet Air have leased seven aircraft to accommodate the surging demand for the upcoming 2025 Tet Lunar New Year.

Vietnam Airlines has announced plans to wet lease three additional Airbus A320 aircraft for flights scheduled between January 13 and February 12.

The aircraft, each with a capacity of 180 passengers, will run routes linking HCM City with Hanoi, Hai Phong, Vinh, Thanh Hoa, Danang, and Chu Lai. During the Tet holiday season, they are expected to provide 75,000 seats, equivalent to 400 flights.

Vietnam Airlines aims to offer approximately 2.15 million seats on 11,000 flights during the 2025 Tet holiday season.

In December 2024, Vietnam Airlines also received one Airbus A320neo and one Boeing 787-10, bringing its fleet total to over 100 aircraft.

Meanwhile, VietJet Air has leased four additional aircraft for domestic flights during Tet. The planes arrived in Vietnam on January 8, bringing its total fleet to 115 aircraft operating on 170 international and domestic routes.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, the booking rate for domestic flights during Tet has reached 90-100 percent.
