According to a plan recently issued by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the forum will attract government leaders, representatives of ministries and local authorities, international organisations, financial institutions, investment funds, technology and innovation companies, as well as experts, scientists and members of the start-up ecosystem.
The event aims to serve as a platform for policy dialogue, resource mobilisation and new forms of cooperation as the global economy undergoes significant restructuring driven by geopolitical shifts, technological advances, digital transformation and the transition to greener growth.
Discussions will focus on four key pillars: the role of megacities, breakthrough technologies and innovation ecosystems, cooperation models in a new era, and the leading role of the private sector in promoting growth and innovation.
On October 27, the programme will feature thematic discussions, technology and innovation showcases, investment networking events and a range of diplomatic activities.
The forum's main events are scheduled for October 28, including a high-level plenary session and a dialogue with the Prime Minister of Vietnam.
A ministerial-level discussion and dialogue involving government leaders from multiple countries will also take place on October 28. Topics will include new growth drivers, science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, green transition and international cooperation initiatives.
The World Economic Forum (WEF) is expected to help develop the programme and co-organise the event, while mobilising its network of experts, partners and global businesses to participate.
The WEF is also expected to support discussions on Vietnam's and ASEAN's positions in global value chains, the application of artificial intelligence and workforce development for the future of manufacturing.
The forum will additionally feature bilateral workshops, technology demonstration and cooperation spaces, activities under the Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) programme, investment networking events and site visits.
Ho Chi Minh City will lead the organisation of the forum in coordination with central government agencies, the WEF and international partners.
