The Outstanding Innovation Award went to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Huu Hieu from the faculty of chemical engineering in Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT). He was recognised for his "Synthesis of Nanomaterials from Biomass for Applications in Furfural Production and Wastewater Treatment" research project.
Elsewhere, the Outstanding Innovation Award was given to Associate Professor, Ph.D. Nguyen Thi Ai Nhung, director of Center for Research, Production and Technology Transfer, Institute of Applied Research in Science and Technology Hue University (HU).
She was granted the honour thanks to her "Research and Development of Pharmaceutical Products from Endemic Medicinal Plants by Environmental-friendly Extraction Technology and Modern Simulation Methods" project.
The Encouragement Award was delivered to nine scientists, including four Vietnamese scientists, namely Associate Professor Luong Xuan Dien from Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), Associate Professor Nguyen Dinh Quan from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT), Dr. Vo Nguyen Xuan Phuong from Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU), and Associate Professor Vu Thu Trang from Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST).
The Hitachi Global Foundation Asia Innovation Award is an award programme launched in 2020 to promote science, technology, and innovation which contributes to solving social issues and realising a sustainable society in the ASEAN region.
This award seeks to recognise individuals and groups that undeniably served public interests through their outstanding achievements in research and development (R&D) in the fields of science and technology, according to the organisers.
