Leaders of Tan Loc Commune in Ca Mau Province said on May 15 that local authorities were assessing the situation and considering plans to capture the animal.
The crocodile was discovered by a family in Hamlet 7, Tan Loc Commune, after it surfaced in a pond behind their house.
Residents estimated the animal weighed more than 10 kilogrammes. They recorded images of the crocodile and reported the sighting to local authorities.
According to residents, a neighbour had spotted a crocodile in another pond about a week earlier but failed to capture it.
The family believes it may have been the same animal seen again this week.
