An online exchange was held between young Vietnamese students living abroad and had a very exciting, inspiring atmosphere.
As part of the event, young Vietnamese people living, studying and working all over the globe exchanged questions and answers, recommendations as well as exchanging information.
The organisers included the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the Vietnam Youth Federation and the Vietnam Students Association. The exchange aims to keep them updated on the Party, State and the National Communist Youth League’s policies towards overseas Vietnamese youths and encourage them to come up with ideas and suggestions about national development.
Reporters and young people at the exchange in Hanoi
During the event, many overseas young people shared a common wish that the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union should promote more their activities in countries where they are living because they would also like to be a part of social movement activities.
"Overseas Vietnamese students are often shy even though they are very smart and energetic," according to Dinh Minh Long, who is studying for a Master's degree in England, "The Vietnam Youth Federation and Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union should do something to help them."
The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union always pays attention to Vietnamese students living and studying abroad. Nguyen Dac Vinh, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, pointed out that they organise annual Summer Camp programmes for them. The exchange will also help them to better understand the expectations of Vietnamese living abroad in order create an appropriate approach for further development of the movements.
Devotion to the homeland from young Vietnamese is always in "good consciousness"
"Devotion to the homeland is always recognised. The Party and State have always encouraged overseas Vietnamese students to come back home and contribute to national development, "according to Tran Duc Mau, Deputy Manager of the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs.
Mau added that there would be a website designed for overseas Vietnamese students within the year and a special feature on Vietnam Television Station for them in the near future.
The attendees also recommended launching some programmes which will stimulate and support scientific research of students as well as recognising their accomplishments.
"Overseas Vietnamese young people are part of the community and part of the country," according to Vinh. The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union expects them to further contribute to national development from wherever they are.
