Yen Bai hit by another earthquake

The northern mountainous province of Yen Bai experienced a 3-Richter scale magnitude earthquake on Thursday morning, the second reported within the past 10 days.

The quake, which lasted some five seconds at 11.40 am at Cam A Commune, Yen Binh District, caused houses to shake.

"I saw furniture moving in my house for some seconds," a resident said.

Previously on May 29, a 3.5 magnitude quake on the Richter scale also occurred in Yen Bai's Luc Yen District.

According to the Earthquake and Tsunami Warning Centre under the Institute of Geophysics, Yen Bai lies in the adjacent parts of the Lo and the Chay rivers and often reports earthquakes, with the strongest recorded at 5.5 magnitude on the Richter scale.
