The municipal authorities have assigned the Hoan Kiem District People’s Committee to submit the plan on the land withdrawal to the local Department of Natural Resources and Environment for consideration before implementing the site clearance.

The Department of Construction has proposed using a land plot in Tay Ho District’s Tay Ho Ward for the resettlement of the C8 households.

On August 26 last year a major blaze ravaged C8 row, leaving one person dead and destroying the possessions of 36 households which were home to more than 100 people. Fires in 2005 and 2007 also forced many households to move to Duc Giang area.

Chuong Duong District is currently home to eight rows of wooden house which face high risk of fire. The houses were built in the 1960s but many of them had deteriorated.

Chuong Duong Ward was home to 17 wooden house terraces. Some years ago, 274 households in seven of them were moved to resettlement areas in Tu Liem and Cau Giay districts.
