The month registered a record number of hacking attempts, with the frequency quadruple that of previous months.
According to BKAV Network Security Company, hackers aimed to commandeer control rights, corrupt systems or install viruses to steal data.
Most of the incidents were possible due rather simple errors, including SQL injection and weak admin passwords, which required little effort on the part of hackers to bypass, said Nguyen Minh Duc, Director of BKAV’s Network Security Division.
“Such simple incidents occur as almost all Government agency, organisation and enterprise websites do not receive independent security testing. They also lack effective security solutions,” Duc emphasised.
In order to prevent possible attacks, websites should be equipped with an ISO 27001 certified information security administration system combined with comprehensive anti-virus solutions, he noted.
In June, Vietnam recorded 3,690 new computer viruses that attacked over 6.95 million computers. W32.Sality.PE was the most active virus, attacking over 481,000 computers during the month.
