The Nielsen Cross-Platform Insights Report 2015 in Asia shows that people in South East Asia spend the most time absorbed in the cyber world and can spend up to three full work days online per week.

Vietnam consumers spend an average of 24.7 hours online per week, an increase of nine hours on 2014. The online time of people aged from 21 to 29 has the fastest growth rate compared to other age groups, currently spending 27.2 hours online per week. On the second place are people over 40 years old who are spending 22.6 hours online per week.

As the market for mobile and smart devices blooms, the amount of smartphone owners in Vietnam increased from 82% in 2014 to 91%. Cable TV, laptops and desktop are the top devices with 79% of people own cable TV, 78% have laptops and 75% have desktops. According to the report, 31% often use smartphones to surf internet and 38% use laptops.

Nine out of ten Vietnamese like to use two devices at the same. All age groups often use a second device to go online while watching TV.

Through the report, firms can deliver the right content and products and boost business if they understanding how and what people use the internet for. Knowing which age group they can target, firms can also decide on suitable advertisements and form a better connection with their customers.

The report was carried out in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, India, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Singapore tops the list with people spending 25.9 hours online per week.
