Colonel Tran Tien Hien, Commander of the Quang Nam Border Guard Command, announced on May 16 that the suspect was apprehended as part of a successful anti-drug operation.
“We coordinated with several relevant units to arrest the Vietnamese male suspect at around 9.30 am on May 10 in La Dee Commune, Nam Giang District, while he was transporting the drugs from Sekong Province, Laos, into Vietnam,” Colonel Hien said.
Authorities seized 38 bricks of heroin at the scene, along with a pickup truck used for transportation.
“The case is currently under further investigation,” he added.
