Vietnam welcomed a record 2.7 million Chinese visitors in 2016, according to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO).

More Chinese travellers come to Vietnam
The GSO said the number was double the figure of 2012 and one and a half times that in 2015. That also means tourists from mainland China accounted for nearly 30% of Vietnam’s total foreign arrivals in 2016.
Vietnam’s top tourist destinations for the Chinese are usually Khanh Hoa, Danang, Phu Quoc Island and lately Da Lat in the Central Highlands.
The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism reported that foreign visitors to Vietnam hit 10 million this year, a 26% increase over 2015.
The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism said that the government’s policy of granting visa exemptions to tourist from the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain – had helped increase visits.
In 2017, the country’s tourism sector targets 11.5 million visitors, 66 million domestic tourists and VND460 trillion in revenue. Tourism could become a major economic driver by 2020.
