Vietnam has reported a fall in the number of Covid-19 infections with 48,717 new cases confirmed on Monday, a decrease of 2,015 cases against yesterday's figure, according to the Ministry of Health.
According to the ministry's report, most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 61 out of 63 localities in the country with five localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (5,868), Dak Lak (3,925), Bac Giang (2,649), Yen Bai (2,350), and Nghe An (2,300).
As of Monday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 9,867,045. The country now stands 12th among 225 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include Hanoi (1,502,111), HCM City (596,940), Nghe An (402,907), Binh Duong (379,064), and Hai Duong (348,055)
On April 4, an additional 55,873 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 7,843,835.
On Monday evening, a further 42 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 42,642. The high fatalities were reported in some localities including Dong Nai (5), Gia Lai (4), An Giang (3), Ben Tre (3), Kien Giang (3), Quang Ninh (3), and Tra Vinh (3).
Vietnam on April 3 administered 29,022 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, raising the total number of doses given to local people to over 206.55 million.
