Vietnam seeks more investment in Iran's oil, gas sectors

Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung called for an increase in his country's investments in Iran's oil and gas sectors.

Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung called for an increase in his country's investments in Iran's oil and gas sectors, and welcomed endorsement of a bilateral free trade agreement between the two states.

Speaking in a meeting with Iranian Commerce Minister Mahdi Qazanfari in Hanoi, Dung also urged for the bolstering of cooperation with Iran in line with the two countries' interests and development.

He further voiced support for negotiations between the two countries' officials to draw a 10-year plan for Tehran-Hanoi cooperation, specially in the agriculture, fishing and sea transportation sectors, and proposed that the two countries start talks for signing a free trade agreement at the earliest.

Dung said that the volume of trade between the two countries has been doubled during the last year, but meantime lamented that the two nations' potentials is way beyond such figures.

Qazanfari, for his part, described boosting cooperation between the two countries as the goal of his trip, and promised that Tehran would support Vietnam's National Oil Company to run oil and gas exploration and extraction projects in Iran.
