Vietnam reports additional 283 Covid-19 cases

Vietnam recorded 283 more Covid-19 infections as of noon on Wednesday with the majority from the northern province of Bac Giang, the Ministry of Health has reported.

Vietnam recorded 283 more Covid-19 infections as of noon on Wednesday with the majority from the northern province of Bac Giang, the Ministry of Health has reported.

Of the total figure, Bac Giang accounts for 253 cases that have all been put under quarantine, including 201 cases in Viet Yen District.

The 201 infections were the result of the Covid-19 screening in isolated areas in Quang Chau and Tien Son communes and Nenh Town in Viet Yen District in late May.

Meanwhile, the others are all locally-infected cases from HCM City, Bac Ninh, Ha Tinh and Hanoi with 20, six, three and one respectively.

By Wednesday noon, Vietnam confirmed 7,897 locally-transmitted Covid-19 cases and 1,608 from abroad. The number of new infections from April 27 reached 6,327 cases.

Around 3,549 Covid-19 cases in Vietnam have been discharged from hospital.
