Vietnam records 328 new Covid-19 cases on Monday morning

Vietnam logged 328 new Covid-19 infections in the past 12 hours as of 6 am on Monday, raising the total rally to 20,261.

According to the Ministry of Health, all of the new cases are locally-transmitted patients with HCM City accounting for 175, followed by Dong Thap (100), Phu Yen (23), Hung Yen (9), Khanh Hoa (8), An Giang (6), Long An (2), Bac Ninh (2), Lang Son (1) and Dong Nai (1).

Among those, 272 were detected in quarantined and locked down areas; meanwhile, 54 cases in HCM City and one in Bac Ninh are under epidemic investigations to identify infection causes.

HCM City has surpassed the northern province of Bac Giang to become the largest epicentre in Vietnam, recording hundreds of new cases on a daily basis these days. The city has to date confirmed more than 6,000 new cases during the latest outbreak since late April.

As of 6 am on Monday, Vietnam had confirmed 20,261 Covid-19 patients, including 18,403 locally-infected cases. The number of infections since April 27 has reached 16,833.

Yen Bai, Quang Tri, Thua Thien-Hue, Tuyen Quang, Son La, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Thai Nguyen, Dien Bien, Vinh Phuc, Hai Duong, Phu Tho, Quang Nam and Ha Nam have gone through 14 days without detecting any new cases

So far, 7,819 Covid-19 patients in Vietnam have been discharged from hospital, while the country has reported 86 Covid-19-related deaths.


Vietnam has administered nearly 4 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with 223,336 people having received two doses.
