Any activities in the area without Vietnam’s consent violate Vietnam’s national sovereignty and the country definitely protests. Vietnam Foreign Ministry spokesman Luong Thanh Nghi made the affirmation at a March 7 press briefing in reply to reporters’ question on Vietnam’s reaction to China’s mobilization of several maritime patrol ships to the East Sea, including Vietnam’s Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) islands.
