Vietnam, France increase defence co-operation

A senior Vietnamese military delegation headed by Minister of Defence,  Phung Quang Thanh paid a working visit to France on December 17.

Minister Thanh and his French counterpart, Herve Morin discussed measures to boost bilateral co-operation in defence and exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern.

Minister Thanh asked France to help Vietnam train its army medical personnel and sell the country helicopters, transport aircraft and other modern military equipment.

The two ministers signed an agreement on defence co-operation between the two countries and agreed to hold further talks on defence issues.
