The event also saw the presence of Director International of the IHK Frankfurt Jürgen Ratzinger and Executive Director of the EU-ASEAN Business Council along with 200 enterprises and trade promotion organisations from Germany and several European countries.

The forum included three panels under the themes 'ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) - Transformation of the Investment Environment', 'Investment Promotion Measures', and 'Foreign Investors in ASEAN'.

Delegates emphasised the determination of ASEAN countries to remedy the difference in level of development, political system and culture to effectively implement contents of the AEC and make positive changes to the investment environment among ASEAN countries, particularly in the legal system, creating favourable conditions for EU and German investors in various fields.

Ambassador Doan Xuan Hung affirmed that Vietnam is actively completing its legal system and boosting administrative reforms to meet standards set by the AEC in addition to the implementation of a series of trade agreements including the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement.

Hung noted that Vietnam now has large demand for capital and technology from Germany and European countries, and Vietnam always welcomes and will create favourable conditions for German investors to Vietnam.

In the meantime, Vietnamese Trade Counsellor Nguyen Huu Trang highlighted the political trust and fine relations between Vietnam and Germany over the past time.

He also emphasised advantages of Vietnam including a young workforce, a community of 100,000 Vietnamese speaking German in Vietnam and 125,000 Vietnamese living in Germany, being a valuable resource and a bridge between the two countries.

He appreciated the positive contributions of large German groups such as Mercedes Benz, Siemens and Bosch in Vietnam's development over the past 30 years and was delighted at the increasing attention of German small and medium-sized enterprises in Vietnam.

The forum also heard investment experience in Vietnam and ASEAN countries from German enterprises operating in ASEAN including Schmidt-Clemens, BMW and B.Braun.

Later in June this year, the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany will hold a workshop on opportunities, prospects and detailed measures to enhance co-operation efficiency between Vietnam and Germany with the participation of managers and enterprises from both countries.
