The number of new Covid-19 infections continued to drop with 3,717 cases recorded on Sunday, down 1,392 cases from the previous day, according to the Ministry of Health.
According to the ministry's report, most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 53 out of 63 localities in the country with five localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (795), Nghe An (210), Yen Bai (200), Quang Ninh (198), and Phu Tho (170).
As of Sunday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 10.65 million. The country now stands 12th among 227 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include Hanoi 1,586,929), HCM City (608,450), Nghe An (481,726), Bac Giang (385,296), and Binh Duong (383,403). Over 9.26 million patients have recovered from the disease.
On Sunday evening, one death related to Covid-19 was announced in Ben Tre Province, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 43,042.
Vietnam on April 30 administered 165,004 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, raising the total number of doses given to local people to over 214.93 million.
