Tropical storm Nock-ten is expected to enter the Gulf of Tokin this evening (July 29) and sweep through Vietnamese coastal areas.

According to the Central Hydro-meteorological Forecasting Centre, at 4:00 p.m today, the eye of the storm, with level 13 winds, is expected to be 180km north to northeast of Hoang Sa (Paracel) Islands.
Within in the next 24 hours, the storm will move west to northwest.
The storm\'s path expected to move westward in the following 24 to 48 hours, and by 4pm on July 31 reach the coast stretching from the northern province of Thai Binh to the central province of Nghe An, with level 12 winds.
The Central Hydro-meteorological Forecasting Centre said that beginning this afternoon, through the evening, the Gulf of Tonkin will see winds of up to level 9, and level 13 near the storm\'s centre.
On July 30 strong winds are expected to reach the area of coast stretching from the northern province of Quang Ninh to the central province of Ha Tinh. The northern and central regions will see heavy rain.
The coast from Binh Thuan to Ca Mau could also see monsoon rains, strong winds and whirlwinds.
Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai on July 27 urged sea-going vessels to remain inshore as the Nock-10 tropical storm was approaching.
The Deputy PM has asked authorities of coastal provinces from northern Quang Ninh to central Quang Ngai to take steps to protect aquaculture farms and fisheries as well as to make sure that dyke systems are in good repair.
The death toll in the Philippines from tropical storm Nock-ten climbed to 41 on Friday, as millions of people across the main island of Luzon mopped up after a week of heavy rain, according to AFP.
