Vietnam and Cuba have pledged continued cooperation as they celebrate their 50th year of diplomatic relations.
Vietnam and Cuba agreed to a cooperative programme for the period of 2011-2013 during talks between the Vietnamese Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Hoang Tuan Anh, and Cuban Culture Minister, Abel Prieto, were conducted yesterday evening in Hanoi.
The cooperation is one of many activities held recently by the two countries to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Cuba diplomatic ties which were established in 1960. It focuses on cultural exchange in such programmes as arts performance, exhibitions, film festivals, and more.
The delegation of the Cuban Culture Ministry led by Minister Abel Prieto is paying a working visit to Vietnam (from October 19-25) following an invitation from the Vietnamese Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
At the event, Minister Hoang Tuan Anh reviewed the significant achievements from the mutual cooperation over last 50 years. He expressed the desire to further develop the cooperation in culture with Cuba so as to boost mutual understanding between people in the two countries.
Before the cooperation signing ceremony, Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung also held a meeting with Cuban Minister Abel Prieto. Prime Minister Dung emphasised that leaders and people of Vietnam are always ready to promote the traditional ties with Cuba:
“The signing of the cultural cooperation programme from 2011-2013 will increase mutual understanding between the two countries, especially when the two countries are celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties.”
