National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines has officially announce new uniforms for pilots, cabin crew and ground staff as part of its push to upgrade its image and presence in the international aviation market.
It trialled new uniforms, created by designer Minh Hanh, in March, but in the light of comments from crew and passengers, the latest uniforms keep the same design, but the cut and colours have been tweaked.
"Vietnam Airlines, designers and manufacturing companies changed the designs and material," an airline spokesman said.
He said the uniforms should be comfortable for the crew, while retaining elegance and luxury. Female flight attendants will wear a modern version of the classic ao dai, featuring a sylised lotus symbol. Yellow will be the colour for business class, blue for economy class.
Vietnam Airlines is aiming to become a top carrier in South East Asia and a prominent player in Asia by 2020.
It is expanding routes, upgrading aircraft and offering more efficient ground services to reduce delay for passengers, such as faster check-in, and streamlined priority for business class travelers. It is introducing new aircraft to its fleet - the Airbus A350 and Boeing's 787-9.
