The Vietnam Airlines flight makes an emergency landing in Danang to provide urgent medical assistance to a passenger on July 23.

Flight VN837, operated by an Airbus A321, departed Noi Bai Airport and was about 40 minutes into the journey when a South Korean passenger suddenly lost consciousness.

The cabin crew immediately initiated emergency medical procedures and administered first aid in accordance with standard in-flight response protocols.

As the passenger's condition failed to improve, the flight crew decided to divert the aircraft and make an emergency landing at Danang International Airport to provide timely ground-based medical care.

Upon notification, Vietnam Airlines’ local representatives quickly coordinated with airport authorities, medical teams, and emergency response units to access the aircraft. The passenger was then transported to a hospital for treatment.

According to hospital officials, the passenger’s condition stabilized following prompt medical attention. Vietnam Airlines also assigned staff to accompany the passenger’s relatives and assist with procedures during recovery.

After completing the emergency protocol, VN837 resumed its journey and safely landed in Siem Reap at 7.10pm the same day.

This was one of several recent instances where Vietnam Airlines adjusted its flight plan to assist passengers with medical emergencies.

Previously, on July 6, 2025, flight VN56 from Hanoi to the UK diverted to Kolkata, India. On June 30, flight VN7569 from Hanoi to Nha Trang landed in Danang, and on June 16, flight VN158 from Danang to Hanoi made an emergency stop in Hue.

Vietnam Airlines advises passengers to monitor their health before travel. Those experiencing unusual symptoms should consult a doctor and consider postponing their journey to ensure flight safety.
