The agreement is part of a broader USD4 billion financial co-operation package that Vietjet has established with leading American partners. It aims to support the airline’s fleet development plans, and Vietjet is set to receive nearly 300 new aircraft between 2025 and 2027.
Starting in 2025, Vietjet will begin receiving the Boeing 737 Max aircraft deliveries from its landmark 200-plane order, initially valued at over USD24 billion. The deal was first announced in 2019 in Vietnam by then-US President Donald Trump. Vietjet is in talks to expand this order further as part of its global growth strategy.
In addition to Boeing, Vietjet maintains strategic partnerships with top US corporations, including GE, Pratt & Whitney, and Honeywell, with total contract values nearing USD50 billion. Negotiations are also underway for additional projects worth an estimated USD14 billion. Vietjet’s engine and technical service agreements with GE and Pratt & Whitney exceed USD10 billion.
The airline is also ramping up its technological collaborations with US tech giants such as Microsoft, Apple, and Google and is in negotiations with SpaceX to develop advanced tech solutions for its entire fleet. These initiatives are expected to significantly contribute to narrowing the trade imbalance between Vietnam and the United States shortly.
Vietjet operates more than 115 new-generation aircraft and has placed orders for over 400 additional jets.
