The US continues to be the biggest importer of Vietnamese goods in the first four months of this year, buying 9.93 billion USD worth of products, posting a yearly rise of 15.7 percent, according to statistics of the General Department of Customs.

The European Union followed with 9.32 billion USD, up nearly 9 percent, while the ASEAN came third with 6.02 billion USD, a drop of 0.5 percent. China’s import of Vietnamese goods dropped 3.6 percent to 4.82 billion USD.

Meanwhile, China remains the biggest supplier of goods to Vietnam in the four-month period, with 15.3 billion USD worth of goods shipped to the Southeast Asian country.

Trade with Asian countries made up 66.6 percent in Vietnam’s foreign trade with a total value of 67.6 billion USD for the period, up 11.3 percent year on year.

At the same time, import-export activities between Vietnam and American countries generated 16.66 billion USD, a year-on-year increase of 19.4 percent.

Two-way trade between Vietnam and Europe came to 13.82 billion USD, a 6.9 percent rise.

Trade with African countries jumped 15 percent to 1.52 billion USD.

According to the General Department of Customs, in January-April, Vietnam recorded 101.5 billion USD in import-export revenues, up 11.6 percent against the same period last year.

The country exported nearly 49.7 billion USD worth of commodities or 6.9 percent year-on-year rise, while imported goods worth 51.8 billion USD, up 16.6 percent on a yearly basis.
