Vietnam Airlines said on July 20 that since the start of the fourth wave in late April, the airlines have shown their support to HCM City by transporting over 130 tonnes of equipment including ventilators, test kits, protective suits and masks to HCM City for free. On July 19, they transported over 16 tonnes of goods including 800 ventilators.
Over 6,800 medical staff, lecturers and medical students across Vietnam have been transported to HCM City and other southern provinces to help. Vietnam Airlines has helped transport over 1,300 people to the south. As the requests for transportation are still coming, the airlines have switched to large planes to carry more passengers and goods.
The airlines also transported over two million doses of vaccines to Vietnam. It is estimated that all the transportation costs are over VND100bn (USD4.3m).
