
24-year-old woman in Can Tho Province warned over spreading false information about Covid-19 treatment
The woman admitted to uploading and sharing false information. She has taken down the posts.
On September 2, Nguyen Duc Tho, chief inspector of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Information and Communications, said they asked the owner of Angela Phuong Trinh account to the police station to work after writing various posts about earthworms as Covid-19 treatment. Angela Phuong Trinh is a famous actress and fashion model in the city.
She took down the posts on September 19 after receiving requests from the authorities.
The Department of Information and Communications said they had worked with other agencies to deal with false advertisements and information that can cause harm to the users' health.
The Ministry of Health has confirmed that there was no scientific evidence that earthworms could be used to treat Covid-19. The authorities will also deal with celebrities who spread this information.
