Two more imported Covid-19 patients confirmed on Monday

Two Vietnamese citizens who recently returned from the US and Japan have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, raising the total number of Covid-19 patients in the country to 1,283, the Ministry of Health announced.

According to the ministry's report, one of the new patients is a 27-year-old woman who arrived from Japan at Van Don International Airport in Quang Ninh Province on November 14.

She was sent to a local quarantine area upon arrival and tested positive for SAR-CoV-2 on November 15.

The patient is now being treated at the Hanoi-based Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

The second patient is a 23-year-old man who returned to Danang International Airport from the US with transit in Japan on November 8.

The man was sent to a local quarantine area upon arrival and tested positive for SAR-CoV-2 in his third testing on November 16.

He is now being treated at the Danang Lung Hospital.

With these new infection cases, the number of imported Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 592.

As of 6 pm on November 16, a total of 1,124 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital. There have been 35 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases.

The country has gone 74 days without reporting any new case in the community.

At present, over 15,549 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.
