Two killed after train hits motorbike at Phu Yen railway crossing

A couple were killed after their motorbike was struck by a train at a railway crossing in Phu Yen Province on Thursday morning.

The incident occurred around 7.15 am in An Phu Commune, Tuy Hoa City, at a crossing equipped with automatic barriers.

The 49-year-old motorbike driver, a resident of Tuy Hoa, was carrying his 44-year-old wife when they were hit by passenger train SE7. Both were killed instantly.

According to eyewitnesses, the automatic barrier had already been lowered, and several vehicles and pedestrians were waiting for the train to pass. Despite this, the motorbike rider attempted to cross the tracks, resulting in the fatal crash.

Local authorities arrived shortly after the incident to cordon off the area and launch an investigation.
