Two Covid-19 patients in critical condition

Two Covid-9 patients in Vietnam are now in critical condition and have to use the extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), the Ministry of Health reported.

Two Covid-9 patients in Vietnam are now in critical condition and have to use the extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), the Ministry of Health reported.

According to the Ministry of Health, as of February 18, Vietnam had 690 Covid-19 patients being treated. Of these numbers, nine have worsened and two, Patient 1536 and Patient 1832 were in a serious condition.

Patient 1536 is a 79-year-old woman who returned from the US. She is staying at Danang Lung and Respiratory Diseases Hospital. She has the medical history of diabetes and high blood pressure.  

Over the past two weeks, she has been using ECMO. She is currently exhausted and suffering from serious lung damage.

Patient 1832 is a 65-year-old man from Hanoi’s Me Linh District. He has been being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases since February 2. He has been using ECMO for five days.

Nine others who have seen worsening health are staying at the Hospital of Hai Duong Medical Technical University, Vietnam-Sweden Hospital in Quang Ninh, including one aged 29 and the others aged 45.

The Hospital of Hai Duong Medical Technical University is now providing the treatment for the highest number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam with 225, followed by Chi Linh City’s Health Centre with 207 and the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases with 62.
