Thai Nguyen authorities raise warning over dam leaks

The provincial authorities have asked the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to install warning signs and keep a close eye on the situation on June 14.

Thai Nguyen Irrigation Company, the manager of the reservoir, was asked to issue warnings if there is any change in the situation and monitor the amount of rain and water level in the reservoir. It will also have to check and find solutions for the leaks. They must fix the leaks by August 20 so that the farmers and businesses can resume their daily work.

Two leaks have been found on the dam. One is at the height of 46 metres and another one is at 38 metres.

Thai Nguyen People's Committee, Song Cong City authorities, Pho Yen Commune authorities as well as the authorities of Phu Binh District are warned and advised to be ready to evacuate the residents in case the dam breaks or they need to discharge huge body of water.
