The Humanitarian Television (Nhandaovtv), Lao Cai Red Cross Organisation, and Si Ma Cai District People's Committee held the Tet Charity Programme for the people in Sin Cheng Commune. This is the third year the programme was held by Nhandaovtv.
Si Ma Cai is one of 62 poorest districts in Vietnam. 80% of the residents are from ethnic minority groups.
Various activities were held including free health check-ups and medicines. The organisers also give 500 gifts to poorest households and clothes to children. Campfires, a Chung cake-making contest and music shows were held with participation from the locals to celebrate Tet. The fund for the programme is about VND2bn (USD86).
Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Hospital, Military Bank, Vietjet Air and other sponsors have accompanied the organisers to make the programme a success.
