Indian couple spend USD 192,000 on 25th wedding anniversary in Phu Quoc

An Indian couple hosted 120 family members, friends and business partners in Phu Quoc for a four-day celebration that included three lavish dinners and 60 five-star resort rooms.

Phan Quang Dai, country director of Inventum Global Vietnam, told Dantri that his company recently organised a 25th wedding anniversary celebration for an Indian couple, with total spending of about VND 5 billion (USD 192,500).

The event was planned six months in advance through an Indian partner specialising in wedding planning.

The couple invited 120 guests, including family members, friends and long-standing business partners. Commercial flights were arranged for the round trip between India and Phu Quoc, while the partner handled travel documentation.

All 120 guests stayed in 60 rooms at a five-star resort in the Bai Khem Beach area, with an average room rate of USD 350 a night. The celebration lasted four days and three nights.

"The hosts requested VIP-level service from the moment the guests landed," Dai said. "We had to arrange about 50 premium seven-seat vehicles to transport guests in groups of two or three."

The packed itinerary included three lunches, three dinners, two afternoon tea sessions and an entertainment programme that ran until the early hours.

Each meal cost an average of USD 80 per person for lunch and USD 110 for dinner, excluding drinks.

One dinner was held at what the organisers described as the world's largest beer restaurant, with a capacity of more than 3,000 people, in Sunset Town on Phu Quoc.

The other parties were held at the resort. After the final dinner, the resort's ballroom was transformed into a bar, where guests sang and danced from midnight until 3 am.

"A DJ was flown in directly from India to create the atmosphere, mixing familiar songs with pre-recorded music reflecting the style of celebrations in South Asia," Dai said.

Food is considered an important element of Indian events. The menu combined Indian cuisine with European and Asian dishes, served buffet-style in separate vegetarian and non-vegetarian sections.

Based on his experience serving wealthy Indian travellers, Dai said the market was willing to spend heavily but also had demanding requirements covering everything from reception and accommodation to food, service and logistics.

Dai said Phu Quoc had strong potential for this market, noting that Indian visitors can stay visa-free for up to 30 days, making it easier to organise large groups of several hundred people.

The island also offers beaches, luxury resorts and five-star properties operated by major international brands, providing the privacy, high-end accommodation and event spaces sought by demanding wedding and celebration groups.
