Tan Son Nhat International Airport reported that on the first day of the Reunification Day (April 30) and May Day holiday, it was expected to welcome more than 115,000 passengers, over 60,000 on domestic flights and more than 58,000 on international flights.
On April 30 alone, the airport was scheduled to handle 767 flights, with many group arrivals. As a result, security and safety measures have been strengthened to ensure the best possible service for travellers.
This year’s Reunification Day (April 30) and May Day holiday spans five days from April 30 to May 4, leading many people to either return to their hometowns, travel to other provinces, or head to Ho Chi Minh City to watch the military parade and celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.
Tan Son Nhat International Airport authorities advised that during the peak holiday period, passengers should carefully check their flight schedules and airline operating terminals.
Only Vietnam Airlines operates out of Terminal 1, Terminal 2, and the newly opened Terminal 3, while Vietjet Air continues to operate from Terminal 1. Passengers are reminded to pay attention to avoid confusion. They are also advised to arrive at the airport 2-3 hours before their flight and use online check-in services to minimise waiting times and avoid delays.
Forecasts indicate that during the peak of the Reunification Day (April 30) and May Day holiday, the airport will handle an average of 750 flights per day, an increase of about 10 percent compared to the regular schedule before the holiday.
