Survey says over 70% of school students play online games

A Ministry of Education and Training survey showed that over 70% of school students play online games on school days.

A Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) survey showed that over 70% of school students play online games on school days.

The survey was announced December 18 at a workshop on preventing the harmful effects of violent online games held in Ho Chi Minh City.

It revealed that 76% primary school children in Hanoi were playing online games on school days while the number in Ho Chi Minh City was 70%. Meanwhile, 76.6% is the rate for high school students in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City is 88%.

Representative from the MoET, Duong Van Ba, said that the ministry would, in December, complete the draft for the Anti-violent Online Games among Students Programme for the 2111-2015 period.

Ba said that the draft would include this issue in some school subjects like civics and law or other extracurricular activities. They will also ask relevant local authorities to supervise Internet shops which are located near schools.
