According to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting, at around 4 pm today, August 1, the typhoon now was some 370 kilometres to the east-south-east of Haiphong City and Quang Ninh Province.
In the next 24 hours, the storm will move in the west-north-west.
By 4:00 pm on August 2, the eye of the storm would have been 120 kilometres from the east of Quang Ninh and Haiphong.
Between 24 hours and 48 hours later, it will ravage localities from Nam Dinh to Quang Ninh and then weaken into a tropical pressure.
Since this morning, the Gulf of Tonkin, including Bach Long Vi, Co To, Cat Hai and Van Don islands have faced strong winds and rough seas.
Since this evening to August 4, many northern localities would have torrential rains, particularly Quang Ninh, Haiphong and Lang Son.
Hanoi will experience heavy rains from Thursday.
The National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting have also warned landslides and flash floods many localities such as Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Bac Kan, Cao Bang, Ha Giang, Yen Bai, Lao Cai, Son La, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An.
