Japan is Vietnam’s leading economic partner. Despite economic difficulties, two-way trade last year reached approximately US$25 billion.
Japanese investment in Vietnam last year also rose to an impressive figure of US$5.6 billion.
During a Japan visit by PM Nguyen Tan Dung in December 2013, Japanese PM Shinzo Abe announced the second ODA package of US$1 billion for Vietnam in the 2013 fiscal year.
