The bus disinfected before resuming the trip

Nguyen Dinh Thanh, director of Hung Nguyen District Medical Station, said at 9.30 pm on February 25 they worked with the local authorities to pull over and check a bus carrying 46 people, following a tip-off from the public.

According to the bus owner, they were from Cao Bang and were heading to Binh Duong Province. At 2.30 pm, they picked up a group of 11 people in front of Ninh Hiep Industrial Park in Hanoi. The bus owner contacted the authorities after assuming the Chinese people on the bus had entered Vietnam illegally.

After checking the required papers, all of the passengers and the bus were brought to Hung Nguyen Medical Station. Seven Chinese people and seven other people who were in close contact with them were tested for SARS-CoV-2. On February 26, the initial results came back negative. The bus was disinfected before resuming its trip.

Seven Chinese people were brought to the quarantine centre and the case was transferred to the police. None of the people had their personal papers and they admitted to entering Vietnam illegally. They planned to go to Binh Duong and cross the border to Cambodia.
