More than 150 martial artists are participating in the 2012 Southeast Asian Judo Championships, which opened in the Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu on October 19.

They come from seven countries, namely Singapore, Laos, Thailand, the Republic of Korea (RoK), Cambodia, Hong Kong (China) and hosts Vietnam.
Nearly 90 host artists are joining foreign judokas in eight performance events and seven combat events for both men and women.
Apart from the regional championships, more than 130 athletes also took part in an international open judo tournament, competing in men's and women's performance events in eight weight categories.
Vietnam hopes to earn 8-10 gold medals at the Southeast Asian Championships and 3-4 golds at the international open tourney.
