Patients at emergency room of Cho Ray Hospital

Cho Ray Hospital in HCM City received around 150 traffic accidents between April 29 and May 1, including 90 brain injuries, two of them fatal.

Doctors said that over the long holiday, starting from April 30, traffic accidents tend to increase each day, reaching their peak during the final days.

The sharp increase in the number of patients means overcrowding for Cho Ray Hospital’s brain trauma centre. Hospitals received dozens injured during altercations at social events and celebrations over the holidays.

Phu Yen Province General Hospital, received at least 64 injuries in the emergency room from April 29 to May 1, many of them are the result of traffic accidents or violent altercations.

The hospitals arranged for extra staff to be on duty and carefully prepared medical equipment to deal with the heavy patient load during these days.

Viet Duc Hospital, like the others, has received more patients than usual. Between April 30 and May 1, the emergency room treated 150 patients, half of them being victims of traffic accidents.
