The long drought has caused the water of the plant’s reservoir to sharply drop, preventing the operation of the equipment.

The reservoir is designed to provide water for more than 1,600 hectares of rice and crops in Huong Hoa District.

This year, the water level of the reservoir is around 10% lower than usual. However, the water has been prioritised for irrigation due to the drought.

By August 16, the plant produced 153 million Kwh, fulfilling 64.2% of the designed capacity, Hung added.

The drought has also resulted in water shortages for many residential areas in the province.
