Pu Mat National Park re-releases rare animals

Pu Mat National Park has just released a number of rare species caught by hunters.

Pu Mat National Park on October 21 released a number of rare species caught by hunters.

The animals released included stump-tailed macaques, one born during the rescue mission at Pu Mat National Park, one southern pig-tailed macaque and a pygmy slow loris. Two Indochinese box turtles and one impressed tortoise were also released into their natural habitats.

All of these species have been listed either on the endangered or protected lists.  Since its founding in 1996, Pu Mat National Park has rescued thousands of animals from poachers and animal traders in Nghe An Province.

After their rescue, these rare species are treated for any health issues and nurtured before their re-introduction to their natural habitat.
